Mustafa Mahmoodzada has been practicing civil engineering since 2008, embarking on a dynamic career that has spanned various roles and accomplishments. He initially joined the Louise Berger Group (LBG), a USAID contractor, as an Engineer Intern in 2008 in Afghanistan. Following this, he graduated with a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from Kabul University in 2009. Rejoining LBG after graduation, Mustafa worked as an entry-level civil engineer.
Subsequently, Mustafa transitioned to a role with the US Army Corps of Engineers as a contractor employee, where he ascended from an entry-level civil engineer to the position of Quality Control Manager and then Senior Construction Project Manager, contributing significantly to projects serving the United States Government. In September 2016, Mustafa, along with his family, immigrated to the United States, under the Special Visa Program (SIV). Soon after, he joined Dominion Engineering and Design in Charlottesville, VA as a Project Engineer I, marking the beginning of his career in the United States. In 2018, Mustafa relocated to northern Virginia, where he continued to excel in his profession, progressing from a Project Engineer I to a Principal Engineer and Senior Project Manager.
Mustafa's commitment to professional excellence is underscored by obtaining his master's degree in environmental and water resources engineering from George Mason University in 2022 and acquisition of key certifications, including becoming a licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in 2019 registered in Virgina, earning the designation of ASFPM Certified Floodplain Manager since 2018, and obtaining stormwater management and erosion and sediment control plan reviewer and program administrator certifications from the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) since 2021.
With over 16 years of professional experience in both public and private sectors, Mustafa has cultivated a comprehensive skill set covering various aspects of civil engineering. His expertise spans planning, design, construction management, plan review, cost estimates, project management, and quality control. Specializing in land development within the commercial, industrial, institutional, and residential sectors. Mustafa has successfully prepared and obtained municipal approvals for zoning conceptual plans, preliminary engineering plans, site and subdivision plans, infill lot grading plans, and other site related construction plans from numerous cities and counties throughout Virginia majority of which in northern Virgina, and state government bodies including DEQ, DCR, VDOT, and DEB. His proficiency extends to floodplain studies and mapping, and he has secured FEMA approvals of many CLOMRs, LOMRs, and eLOMAs throughout his career.
Driven by his wealth of experience and a commitment to excellence, Mustafa decided to establish his own civil engineering firm, "Site Design Consultants”. Rooted in his extensive experience in land development, the firm is poised for steady growth, aiming to become a leading engineering consultancy in norther Virginia. Mustafa's guiding principles include a belief in Teamwork, Technology, and Transparency to ensure the success of every project.
